Creek is a historical community,
a commercial centre and the main transportation hub servicing
the communities of Northern B.C., Canada. Downtown Dawson Creek
is where the Mile "0" Post is located marking the starting
point for many traveling the world famous Alaska
Highway.
Dawson Creek is the centre
of transportation connecting with 4 highways and all major railway
lines. Highway 97, Alaska Highway, Highway 49 and Highway
2 all flow in and out of the Peace River community. The roads
and the railway lines provide the transportation routes necessary
to service the tourism, forestry, agriculture, oil and gas industries
in the region.
Dawson Creek is rich in history. In the community
the Walter Wright Pioneer
Village tells the story of the early settlers. The farming
equipment, buildings and wagons all date back to the early 1930s.
Each building is connected by a raised boardwalk. The raised boardwalk
provides the route for self guided tours.

banks, grocery stores, big box stores, accommodations, restaurants,
retail stores, internet cafes, laundromats, coffee houses and
much more can be found downtown.
Dawson Creek is a year round recreation destination.
In the winter months, after the snow and temperatures have fallen,
the trails turn white creating a winter recreation destination
for those who enjoy cross country (xc) skiing, ice skating, snowshoeing,
ice fishing, snowmobiling and ice climbing.
In the summer the landscape turns green and the
parks come alive attracting many people to the area to enjoy hiking,
fishing, boating, bird watching, canoeing, mountain biking, cycling,
kayaking, horseback riding, off roading and golfing.
One of the best ways to view the parks in the community
is by walking or biking the Dawson
Trail. It is a popular route used by locals to get from one
end of the community to another. It is also a connector trail
to many of the parks in the area like Kin Park, Peace
Park, Barbaree Park, Chamberlain Park and Rotary
Park.
Peace River Country is home to many species of
wildlife like the Black and Grizzly Bear, moose, Bald Eagle, deer,
cougar, caribou, coyote, wolf and much more.
